#31DC2013 by Chalkboard Nails

Over the years, I have been inspired by, but never participated in, a 31/30 Day Challenge. This is where someone has created an editorial calendar for you to follow and it's been fun to watch different bloggers take their own spin on the challenge, whether it's creatively or through their inspirations or heck, it's just pretty.

In 2011, Chalkboard Nails and other nail enthusiasts participating in a 31 Day Challenge and she had so much fun that she repeated the challenge in 2012. (See her 2011 and 2012 round up posts.) Well, when you're successful at something, you keep it going, am I right?

Starting tomorrow is the #31DC2013 by Chalkboard Nails. You can read all the details on her blog but the gist is follow the image prompt, post on your own social media, blog, whatever, and ENJOY! No real rules, you can post more than one per day, just have fun with it.

She has coined #31DC2013 so that you can search for all contributions - since Instagram, Facebook and Twitter all support hashtag searching, be sure to include it with your manicure.

I love the idea of trying this for my first nail challenge. Chalkboard Nails is super inspiring, both in her blogging and her blogging etiquette. (Yes, I did love her Twitter image so much that I was working on redoing my own Twitter icon but I haven't nearly gotten the time to finish it.)

Seche Takes Chances

The final lacquer in the Bright and Bold Summer 2013 is Takes Chances, a purple creme that is opaque and highly pigmented in one coat. I used a base of Seche Natural, 1 coat of polish, and a top of Seche Vite.  The purple isn't quite Barney, but definitely isn't light enough to be a lavender - it's just kind of in the middle. It's a little darker than Zoya Remove+ (now that I'm thinking about purples).

So in the sun, I'm learning that this is another ridge filling nightmare polish. If you have ridges, well - this color may not be for you.

Haha just kidding - use a ridge filler instead. Here in the shade, you can see it almost turns into a blurple, but not fully.

Finally indoors with the sunlight streaming through - pretty, opaque, and purple.  Great for stamping too - but I didn't do any. Look for some nail art soon though!

Seche [Website | Facebook | Twitter] Nail Lacquer is available at professional beauty supply stores, select etailers and Ulta online. Price ranges from $4 to $7.50 depending on retailer.

butter LONDON Royals Collection

So just yesterday I was telling you how much I loooove purple. So imagine how excited I was to hear that butter LONDON had this cute little collection of purples to celebrate the Royal Family!

On top we have Lillibet's Jubilee, a silver lavender foil metallic, on its side is Pitter Patter, an opaque, aubergine shimmer and finally on the right is No More Waity, Katie, a semi-sheer, greige lilac jelly glitter.

The three piece is available for $39 and is still available at Ulta.com and on the butter LONDON website

Seche Not Easily Swept Away

If you've been following PolishGalore for any period of time, you may have figured out that my favorite color is purple. So you can only imagine that when I saw this lovely lavender, Not Easily Swept Away, I was jumping for joy. But not every polish can be a winner.

I used a base coat of Seche Natural, 1 coat of polish and a top of Seche Vite.

Now the polish itself was lovely - highly pigmented and opaque but mother of pearl, those ridges! I need to wear a ridge filler with this polish and I don't know why. The rest of this collection didn't do me this way. I was a sad panda.

The shade is a little better - not as much ridge shame but blah!  Okay, so I'm not totally in love with the shade of lavender - it's much lighter than I'd prefer but still lovely.

Finally indoors - more ridges. Yikes. Definitely wear a ridge filler next time - or else your little secret is on display like no tomorrow.  Kinda like Miley's backside at the VMA's this year.

Seche [Website | Facebook | Twitter] Nail Lacquer is available at professional beauty supply stores, select etailers and Ulta online. Price ranges from $4 to $7.50 depending on retailer.

Seche Pretty Little Heartbreaker

Continuing to go down the line of the Bright and Bold collection and this is Pretty Little Heartbreaker, a bubble gum pink creme. I used a base of Seche Natural, 1 coat of polish, and a top of Seche Vite.

Another winner here from Seche.
Very Barbie pink.

Great base for stamping or nail art, I feel.

Very opaque and pigmented. I'm not sure I could wear this on a daily basis like it is, but I'm sure there are plenty of ladies who would love this baby.

Salon Perfect Fall 2013

More fall coming down the pipeline. Now I have a love/hate with Salon Perfect. I love that it's like the baby sister to China Glaze and the new bottle shape is something that I don't mind collecting but it's SO hard for me to find Salon Perfect at my Wal-Mart. I went tonight and the entire two racks were WIPED. The only thing they had was Salon Perfect Sugar Cube (which is actually a really nice white, but still).

Also really big this year is Matte top coats. I don't totally understand it except all old things are new again. Remember when matte polish was awesome? Me too.  Regardless, please enjoy the following press release.

When it comes to accessorizing this Fall’s most fashionable looks, a pop of rich color is the perfect way to spice up otherwise sensible shades for the season.  Gorgeous emerald green looks luxe against neutrals while deep berry tones add pizzazz to black.  This August, polish off any look with the new Salon Perfect® First Look Fall Polish Forecast.

Seche Dives In Head First

Halfway through the Bright and Bold Collection Summer 2013 from Seche and we have Dives In Head First, this lovely bubblegum pink creme. I used a base of Seche Natural, 1 coat, and a top of Seche Vite.  Lovely bones.

You see this sun photo? You see this squishy pink? You like? I love.

Rather see it in the shade? Deal. Jelly.

Finally indoors with the light coming through my now broken storm door (I'm still bitter, don't mind me). I really fell in love with this pink and that's saying something because normally pinks are a dime a dozen and I'm saying "yawn, next." This was pretty much my stand out color in the collection.

Seche [Website | Facebook | Twitter] Nail Lacquer is available at professional beauty supply stores, select etailers and Ulta online. Price ranges from $4 to $7.50 depending on retailer.

China Glaze Autumn Nights

Ah geez, Fall 2013 already? Yes.  One more collection from Cosmoprof North America that I wasn't able to talk about until now (grumble) and a blurry picture to go with it! I don't know what was wrong with me. But I'm pretty much in love with the top half so there's that.  It's something about jewel tones.  The bottom half... well I'm needing a pick me up because I'm not a fan yet.

You may have seen these on display already but the official release is supposed to be September 2013. Twelve new shades available in open stock, 6 piece box collections ("Gossip over Gimlets" and "Strike Up A Cosmo") and then the pretty 6 piece counter display, 12 piece counter display and 36 piece rack.  Those last 3 things are mainly for the professionals.

My picks are Strike Up A Cosmo (the rose gold on top) and Goldie But Goodie (the gold shimmer on top) but I'm interested in how Gossip Over Gimlets (silver foil on bottom) will wear too.

As the season begins to change and the weather cools, China Glaze® invites you to step inside for an evening of cocktails, gossip, flirtation and gorgeous nail color with the new Autumn Nights collection. Gab with the gals, clink those glasses and cheers to a fabulous Fall with nails that strike up a conversation.

The China Glaze® Autumn Nights collection includes:

Gossip Over Gimlets
Platinum shimmer soiree

Goldie But Goodie
Eternal rust gold shimmer

Strike Up A Cosmo
Sparkling rose gold shimmer

Rendezvous With You
Shimmery purple affair

Public Relations

Kiss My Glass
Feisty blue gunmetal shimmer

Tongue & Chic

Scandalous Shenanigans

Regal blue-purple crème

Charmed, I’m Sure
Gracious purple crème

Don’t Make Me Wine
Reserve-worthy red-violet shimmer

Red-y & Willing
Frisky red shimmer

Seche Wild One

More Seche Bright and Bold today - this is Wild One, a pretty coral creme. Okay, so I had to cheat on this one a little. I used a base of Seche Natural, and two coats of polish before my top of Seche Vite.  Normally this polish line is one coat but I think I got too excited and that's what caused me to need two coats. If you don't let your base coat dry completely, you can get drag when applying your color coat.

Pretty coral sun photo. It's like salmon coral here but wait until you see it in the shade, hold on.

Turn around in the shade and you see more coral. Be wild, little one.

Ta da - indoors with some indirect light. I chose a different photo that my original one that was on the Nail It mag because I feel this one shows more coral that the others. Whatevs, *NSYNC reunited last night and I can't really move forward from that because my inner teenager is too excited.  WILD ONE.

Seche [Website | Facebook | Twitter] Nail Lacquer is available at professional beauty supply stores, select etailers and Ulta online. Price ranges from $4 to $7.50 depending on retailer.
