butter LONDON NYFW 2014

Fashion Week may have been covered in snow, but the nails were hot. I will be posting wrap ups this week from different brands, starting with butter LONDON.

I was pretty happy with all that butter LONDON put out this year. Lead Manicurist Katie Jane Hughes had some great ideas that translated well into the fashion world. I was especially excited to see sponged gradients, water marble and even a tweed design. I was not as impressed by the Lela Rose show, but hey - overall butter LONDON gets an A from me.

Lead Manicurist Katie Jane Hughes water marbled (YES!) 675 total nails with her team. For the base, she used Trallop on some, Teddy Girl on others. For her water marbling, she used Yummy Mummy, Diamond Geezer, Posh Bird, Pearly Queen and Billy No Mates.

"BOXERina" is about the power of emotion, combining ballet and boxing. The show featured dancers from the American Ballet Theatre serving as models, choreographed by Nicola Curry.  Katie Jane Hughes applied the new butter LONDON Goss as a base and sponged Posh Bird at the tips.

Katie Jane Hughes applied butter LONDON Nail Foundation followed by lacquer in Union Jack Black. She then matted the look using butter LONDON Matte Finish Topcoat. Next, using a striping brush, Katie applied Knees Up to make a flame like design.

Katie Jane Hughes applied butter LONDON's Patent Gel Top & Tails, then used butter LONDON Nail Foundation for a base. Using Alabaster Gaze (available in April 2014), Katie painted a diagonal stripe, then filled in the rest with two coats of the color and sealed with butter LONDON's Patent Gel Top & Tails.

Katie Jane Hughes applied The Black Knight followed by Diamond Geezer at the base of the nail. Next she used Stardust and the new Anorak - a black, white and silver chunky glitter overcoat (available in March 2014). While the nails were still wet, Katie completed the look by applying holographic, diamond shaped glitter to the tip of the nails.

Using a thin striping brush, she created the tweed effect by layering various shades vertically and horizontally. Shades used were Billy No Mates, Stag Do, Blagger, British Racing Green and Pearly Queen. Katie finished the look using butter LONDON P.D. Quick Topcoat.
