Girly Bits Lost in the PATH

Nothing To Disclose

Happy Wednesday! I'm getting ready for my upcoming trip to PolishCon and realized I haven't really shown off my goodies from Indie Expo Canada that I went to this past summer! The event, held by Girly Bits Cosmetics, had some of the best brands from Canada and the US in attendance, and I was so happy with the turnout.

One of the polishes that I just had to pick up was Girly Bits Lost in the PATH. This is a deep blurple (purple/blue) with gold shimmer and silver holo flakes. There's also some red magic happening up there that just adds to the dimension of this polish.

I used a base coast of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. This polish applied beautifully and just barely needed 2 coats. I'm so in love with it.

LOOK AT THIS. I'm so happy with it and may have to keep this on a few days. I really want to do a marble manicure soon that I saw on The Nailasaurus for PolishCon but we know how my nail art turns out...

As of press time, you can still purchase this limited edition polish on the Girly Bits website. I highly recommend it.

Girly Bits can be purchased on her website or through her approved distributors. Prices range from $10 (USD) to $12 (USD). Join the conversation on FacebookInstagramGoogle+Twitter, & Pinterest.

Sun Polish 7

Press Sample

This year at Cosmoprof North America, there were plenty of new brands, and one that was walking the floor was Sun Polish - a premium line out of Southern California. Unfortunately, they left the show the day before I got there but they were kind enough to send me two polishes to try. Today I have 7, a light green leaning mint creme.

Sun Polish is 4-free and cruelty free, with 10% of their profits going to organization that empower women in Los Angeles. The brush is nice and wide.

For this manicure, I used a base of Duri Rejuvacote, 3 coats of polish and finished with KBShimmer Clearly On Top. This polish was a little streaky and needed all three coats to even out but covered my ridges without any issue.

This color POPS. I seriously would love this as a pedicure but on my nails I feel like it's almost too much for me. It would be a great base for stamping though. The green is leaning mint but has lots of white in it to really pop. I really would love this on nubbins.

Sun Polish may be purchased on their website for $12 a bottle. Join the conversation on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

Dermelect Kiss 'ME'

Press Sample

Happy Monday! My #MakeupMonday is taking a break right now because honestly, I have so much polish here that I have lots to share. On top of all the indies I have floating around, I also have some great fall collections and today is Deremelect Kiss 'ME' from the Completely Classic collection.

Dermelect is a 5 free, peptide-infused polish which has a large cult following in the mainstream world. I once met with one of their brand ambassadors who was probably more passionate that I've ever seen an ambassador be - and with good reason. Deremelect has worked hard to have polish that looks good and isn't full of chemicals.

For this polish, I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. The first coat went on a little streaky because it has such a rich dark base but the second coat evened everything out and showed the glowy nature of the crimson. The polish is considered a "velvet crimson" but didn't dry matte like I expected it to.

Check this out. I love how it just glows. I'm about to have another manicure in preparation for PolishCon this weekend, but I'm very happy with how my nails are finally growing out. As you know, it's been almost a year since my disastrous acrylic nails and I'm very happy with all the progress.

Deremelect may be purchased for $14 a bottle.

Glisten & Glow Rock n' Roll & Route 66

Press Sample

Today from the 1950s Collection by Glisten & Glow, I have Rock n Roll & Route 66 which is a great robin egg blue with teeny green shimmer. This polish also is great for water marbling and stamping and self levels on the second coat. If you watched my Nail It Instagram Live "Indie Spotlight", you saw that my first coat had a bit of pulling and I think it's from the shimmer in my first coat but it was perfect in two.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. I actually was really excited about this polish and really want to have it for an upcoming pedicure.

Ugh I love this so much. The green shimmer is more hidden on the nail but it gives this polish depth and I love it for that. I really want to stamp over it with white polish so look for that soon especialyl now that I have the hang of stamping.

Cirque Cerrillos

Nothing To Disclose

After my first Indie Spotlight, Emily suggested that I swatch a Cirque Colors and while I haven't bought from them in awhile, I decided to "shop my stash" as the cool kids say. I only own 3 Cirque polishes right now, all older but I was interested in seeing how well these polishes hold up over time. Today I have Cerrillos from the 2014 Heritage collection. Cerrillos is located in New Mexico accessible from State Highway 14, commonly called Turquoise Trail so this polish is well named.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish, and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. The first coat was nicely opaque but I decided to go with two thin coats for consistency and well, habit. It's good to note that this polish dried matte but since I always use top coat, it shined itself right up.

So this is what I'm calling a scattered holographic - that is, the holographic looks like tons of little rainbows all scattered around. Cirque labels this more ofa  green but I felt like it was more blue on my nails. Either way, I was super impressed with how well it's held up the past 3 years.

Tonic Come Wander

Nothing To Disclose

This summer when I was at Indie Expo Canada, I also got to chat with Tonic Nail Polish. Due to a hiccup with customs, her polishes were stuck but she had made, wrapped, and carried over 200 bottles in her luggage with her and BOY was I glad. I immediately picked up this beauty, Come Wander from her stash and was happily entering in my PayPal information to get this in my bag.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. This polish is amazing. It's a periwinkle base with pink shimmers, is a super linear holographic and then also has a shimmer that is multichrome that shifts from golden to green AND has iridescent color changing flakes. When you're in the sunlight, you see tons of holo and when you're in the shade, it's all about the flakes. That's why I had to take a picture of the bottle with flash.

aaaaaaaaah! Also it's interesting to note that on Tonic's purchase page, it mentions that the flakes have a strong sulphur like smell that goes away when the polish dries. I didn't originally notice any smell during my Indie Spotlight when I live swatched this polish or again when I wore it for this manicure. However, after reading that, I decided to pull open the bottle and get a whiff and well, yeah when you get your nose down into it, I can smell it. But it definitely doesn't smell once the polish dries on your nail.

Now for photos! I have one in my light box so you can see the flakes and one with the flash so you can see the holo. This polish is just nuts.

Ugh I'm in love. This polish is just awesome. I'm so glad I grabbed it and you still can as of press time!

Beyond The Nail High Tide

Nothing To Disclose

While I was at Indie Expo Canada, I chatted with the ladies from Beyond The Nail and decided to pick up a couple of their polishes. Being that this is a Canadian brand, I knew this would be one of the few times I would get to see them in person. Today I have High Tide from the neon collection.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. I was happy to see that this polish didn't need a white base to be opaque or to be neon. This polish was perfect all on its own.

Whew buddy this is hot. I was happy to see how well it performed and I didn't have any staining issues either. I did note that the polish was a little thicker than normal, but just take care to wipe your brush and use thin coats to make sure your polish dries evenly.

Again, I'm quite impressed and wished I had picked up a few more!

Indie Spotlight 2 with Nail It!

Sponsored

So last Saturday was my second Indie Spotlight with Nail It magazine and the post is live now here. If you recall, my last Indie Spotlight was watched by 1,024 people which was so amazing to me. Want to guess how many people tuned in this time?

1,568!!!

That's a 53% increase in the last one! I can't help but be super giddy about that. However, for the next Indie Spotlight time frame, I'll be doing a whole IG Story takeover for Nail It with snaps during the night of different brands and what's in my VIP bag that I purchased.

Speaking of Instagram, what do you prefer? Do you like to watch a whole live show for 20-30 minutes or do you prefer just watching snaps at your leisure? Let me know in the comments... I have to say, I don't watch a lot of IG Live unless I really like the account or it's timely... It's been interesting to watch.

So again, I'll be going live on Nail It's Instagram on Saturday, September 23rd for the 3rd ever PolishCon: AFair To Remember, live from Chicago!

Glisten & Glow Hand Jive & Hula Hoops

Press Sample

Glisten & Glow just celebrated being in business for 7.5 years and to celebrate, she went through a little refreshed and simplified packaging! Also launched that day was the 1950s Nostalgia collection which included this beauty, Hand Jive & Hula Hoops. This is a mauve leaning purple creme that not only applies well and self-levels but also is great for watermarbling and stamping!

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow Top Coat. Part of the simplified packaging included renaming the Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat into just "top coat."

Look how beautiful this is! This is such a Krystal color and it's great for my office day job or just to use as a base for some nail art. I was so excited that I grabbed another color from the collection, Doo-Wop & Drive-Ins and stamped perfectly on my index finger. I'm excited to play more with this collection!

Nine Zero S'more Holo

Nothing To Disclose

Have you heard of Nine Zero lacquer by JessFace90 on YouTube? This is a 5-free, hand mixed line that is made out of Michigan. I met Jess at PolishCon NYC and I was immediately drawn to her polishes that she was selling. I absolutely loved the above taupe/nude/purple holographic called S'more Holo. This is from the Harvest Festival collection and I've actually worn it twice which is a stand out for me.

I stated with a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. I was super stoked that it only needs 2 coats of polish to be fully opaque.

So this is a perfect office polish for me. My day job is with the US Navy in marketing so I can't always bust out a neon green (oh but I do) and this is a great way to have some class while wearing something beautiful. I really love the gentle linear holo -it looks like a line or rainbows in the sun. It's not going to be so in your face, but sometimes you want subtle.

Girly Bits Stayin' Alive

Nothing To Disclose

Did you catch my Indie Spotlight on Nail It this past Saturday? So far I've only been using polishes that are readily available for purchase - nothing that is sold out or was only available in a past collection box or subscription service. Do you like that format? Let me know in the comments.

Today I'm sharing Girly Bits Stayin' Alive from the Sequins and Satin Pants collection that launched back in May 2017 and I kept eyeing them all over social media. When I was at Indie Expo Canada this past summer, I finally grabbed this purple beauty. I could have easily bought both reds too but I had to limit myself.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacotw, 2 coats of polish and finished with Glisten & Glow top coat. This looks like a glitter but it's actually a grape purple jelly with holo glitters, flecks and purple shimmer. I could have maybe gotten away with just one coat but I did two thin coats to be consistent.

Now this polish has the appearance of being gritty or textured but it's really not. Adding top coat smooths everything out perfectly to a high gloss shine.

Look how pretty this is. I'm seriously thinking about using it for a pedicure soon.

Girly Bits can be purchased on her website or through her approved distributors. Prices range from $10 (USD) to $12 (USD). Join the conversation on FacebookInstagramGoogle+Twitter, & Pinterest.

ILNP After Party

Nothing To Disclose

Happy September! Will I see you at The Polish Convention later this month in Chicago? I'm so stoked about going especially because I'll be featuring items on Nail It's Instagram during the show! I'm trying to figure out if I want to just do a Story like I have in the past or a Story AND Live later that night? Let me know in the comments what you'd like to see.

From my last Indie Spotlight on Nail It, I also featured ILNP After Party from the Summer 2017 collection. This is a blue/purple (blurple!) holographic polish with just a slight pink shimmer in the right light.

The first coat was a little sheer but the second coat was perfect in making this polish opaque.

My camera could barely handle it all. I love this color and will definitely be wearing it more often. Do you see the pink shimmer in the middle of my nails? LOVE.

You can purchase ILNP on Amazon or their website. For more on the ILNP brand, be sure to following their various social media platforms: Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.
