deborah lippmann at Marchesa Fall

We're running down to home with deborah lippmann's nails during Fashion Week - please enjoy the following!  All images are courtesy of TLCommunications.

Backstage at Marchesa Fall 2012
Marchesa, in a word, is magical this season. We saw looks that were complicated and glorious, but nothing short of pure genius. Deborah Lippmann was put to the test, given the challenge of finding the perfect nail looks to complement various looks in the collection. The result was models that flaunted various shades because Deborah wanted to capture the genius in each and every look.

You saw Single Ladies, a bordeaux red, on the nails and toes of some models, and Fade to Black, an opaque vinyl black, also made an appearance on the “dark angel” looks. Most of the models flaunted an angelic combination of Baby Love, a baby doll pink, topped with two layers of an iridescent glitter called Stairway to Heaven.

Deborah also used Stardust, a platinum frost metallic, and Nefertiti, a modern micro fine golden shimmer. Regardless of the shade, the fingers matched the toes of each model, and the nail was short and round. Of course, each look was finished with Addicted to Speed ultra quick‐dry top coat.

China Glaze Sunshine Pop

:| I need a dose of color, how about you?  China Glaze Sunshine Pop is a super bright yellow creme with just the tiniest hint of shimmer in it.  I used a base coat of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of CND Air Dry.  Despite yellow's normal tendency to streak, this wasn't too bad!  This is from the 2012 ElectroPop collection.

I think that's a piece of lint that got stuck under the polish on my pinkie.  I have a really bad habit of doing that because of the cotton rounds I use to remove my polish.

Despite my lobster red hands, I do really like how this color pops against my skin tone.  It's very summer!

Finally indoors with the flash.  Also, giggle with me about the "chine" instead of "shine".

Also I told my coworkers yesterday at lunch that I have some ~1500 bottles of nail polish.  One spit across the table in surprise... I'm sure someone's going to be nominating me for either Hoarders or My Crazy Obsession by year's end.  :]  I can stop anytime...

China Glaze [Website] [Facebook] [Twittercan be found online through several etailers, including my favorite Head2Toe BeautySally's Beauty Supply as well as TransDesign.

Nail Files "Let's Do the Oscars!" Breakdown

While cleaning of my desk (long overdue), I found my breakdown of the episode "Let's Do The Oscars" originally airing on July 26, 2011.  You'll read it, right?  :]

Deam McDermott is supposed to drop by.  I don't know who that is right now (edit: I googled.  Hello hottie).

So Sundance didn't go well for Katie, but now she's going to try for the Oscars!  While I understand branding, I also want to side with Walter that sometimes spending a lot for the potential of a big turnout, may not be worth it.

Oh poor Nichole - you're doing too much!  I hope she works out - I love her hair too much.

I know Katie sounds bad at this point, but again BRANDING!  Speaking of, this blogger needs to write about her bottle of Painted Nail -cough-.

Omg - Foreshadowing the Spring collection?!  I don't know if the collection that is coming out is the one she is talking about since I don't know when this episode was taped.  (Edit: No, it's her 2011 Collection.)

Walter loves to clean?  This man is amazing.  So is that Shark vacuum.  I use Rainbow, personally.

Dang, so Katie wants to hire a receptionist, but not demote Nichole which makes everyone happy.

After commercial break, Katie finally is able to break up with her publicist.  She writes her final check and is done.  (Girl, you need someone like Y!)  Katie calls Walter and pulls up her contract and she was OVERpaying... Walter demands a stop payment for the check, which she does.

OH!  You're Tori Spelling's husband!  And uh, he also had some Girl Scout cookies - nom.

A bit more drama with this PR company.  Again, it's hard to discern exactly what happened over the many days (months) but bottom line: follow your contract and make your client happy!

The next breakdown will be the finale which has been sitting on my DVR this whole time.  I didn't want to watch it in case there wasn't a season 2, but there will be so I can watch now!  :]  (Don't try to understand my logic - I don't half the time.)

Pure Ice Black Crackle

The companion to Pure Ice Golden Ticket is this black crackle.  As far as black crackles go, this one was pretty neat.  It was still relatively thin and well, as for the crackling... let me show you.  This is one coat of crackle over my existing manicure.  This crackle does dry matte, so I added Seche Vite to make it shine.

See how lovely it cracks?  This is how a lot of European crackles seem to work (versus OPI here in the States).  I'm happy!

Here in the shade , you can see that the glitter shows up super nicely under the crackle.

And finally indoors with the flash - well... not much else to say here.  Crackle - good deal.

You can purchase this duo for $6 straight from Bari Cosmetics here.  Read more about Bari's Cosmetics including Pure Ice on their Facebook Page and follow them on Twitter.

deborah lippmann at The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2012

Finishing up some fashion week news here - this time Deborah Lippmann was at the Heart Truth Red Dress Show.  All images courtesy of TLCommunications.

Backstage at The Heart Truth Red Dress Collection 2012
The Heart Truth kicks off New York Fashion Week as the tenth collection of Red Dresses are revealed. Deborah Lippmann is in charge of the nails and toes of the beautiful celebrities and influencers who will flaunt the collection – and she is armed with a slew of her classic and sexy red hues. “We’ll go with the lacquer shade that works best for each style, it will vary from woman to woman depending on what they like,” explains Lippmann. “I’m personally very excited to work with this these women. It’s going to be a great show!”

Deborah Lippmann’s red hues that you will see on the runway:

Pure Ice Golden Ticket

Remember this post?  Now time to see it in action!  While the original release called this color "Ice Strobelight" (or at least that's what I thought), I was told it's actually called "Golden Ticket."  I'll update in case I'm wrong.  ^_^  This is a nice gold glitter - nice coverage which I liked a lot.  I used a base of Poshe, 2 coats of polish and a top of Seche Vite.

Pretty sun pictures!  You can almost see a bit of tiny red glitter in there!

Here in the shade you can see more of that red glitter in the bottle and the polish is definitely nicely opaque.

Finally indoors with the flash and this is a nice metallic gold instead of an antique gold or rose gold.  No green tint in it either.

I will be reviewing the Black Crackle later - you can purchase this duo for $6 straight from Bari Cosmetics here.  Read more about Bari's Cosmetics including Pure Ice on their Facebook Page and follow them on Twitter.

You’ll be seeing spots as the models flaunt a pretty polka‐dot nail that is feminine and long with a rounded tip. Poshe Nails Fast Drying Base Coat Update

Update from my last Poshe post!  I've been using Poshe fast drying base coat under all my manicures and on my bare nails since 18 February.  Today is now 18 March and not only did my nails grow nice and long but my manicurist told me that they felt stronger than she's ever felt - and I've been going to her around once every 6 weeks for over a year now!  While I loved Rejuvacoat by Duri, they didn't make my nails as strong as Poshe has!  So, here are my nails on 1 March - right before I had a manicure done.

Looking lookie!  I'm pretty darn pleased with myself.  And with Poshe!

In my press release post of Poshe products, I had some ladies share that where Seche Vite has failed them, Poshe has redeemed itself.  You can see their website as to where to purchase their products in the US (my local Sally's has them!).  I've seen the price range from $5.50 to $7 for their base coat.

NOTD: 15 March 2012

DARN IT.  It's the Ides of March and I don't have a witty manicure to show you.  Nor did I have one on Pi[e] Day.  However, I do have a NOTD that I wore on 26 February that I was pretty proud of.  My boyfriend actually picked this combination out!

This is one coat of Dr.'s REMEDY Revive with one coat of deborah lippmann Ruby Red Slippers.  At first I just topped with CND Air Dry and I got the following:
HUNGRY GLITTER.  To smooth it out, I put a layer of Lynnderella Glitter Tamer, then another coat of CND Air Dry to seal the deal.

Now I'm just going to post pictures.  It's late, I have to be up early, yadda yadda.  Please note that when you mix these two colors, you get a slight purple tint!  It was so lovely to see - and very unexpected.

That's all she wrote folks.  Until next time!

Dr.’s REMEDY® Enriched Nail Polish is available for $16 online at http://www.remedynails.com or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.  You can "Like" them on Facebook.

deborah lippmann [official website] sells for $18 a bottle.  You can also Like her on Facebook and follow her on Twitter.

Lynnderella is sold by American etailer Llarowe for $15 a bottle.  Glitter Tamer sells for $8.00.

Sun, Sand & Surf-proof Nails: New Invincible Gel Polish

So the skinny on me lately is that after 5 glorious (and I do mean glorious) years of being able to work from home on a project that I loved, I was laid off.  Thankfully, I was able to find work that started the Monday after my last day at the old job, but it's a huge pay cut, and it's actual office time all day.  I am still dedicated to PolishGalore, and showing you the newest nail and makeup items but I'm also looking for more office appropriate items, which is why I loved getting this email from SensatioNail about a gel polish you can apply at home.  I'll have more information on it today but for now, please enjoy the following release from SenasatioNail!

Lady Bug Nail Polish Holder

Have you heard about the Lady Bug Nail Polish Holder yet?  It's a high-strength, durable plastic half-circle holder that has rubber grips on the bottom to angle the holder so you can keep your hands free when polishing.

Now, I normally don't need to worry about holding my nail polish until I get to about half a bottle.  Then I'm constantly having to tilt the bottle to get to the awesome nectar inside.

Here is the top of the holder:
You can see there is a foam insert that is diamond shaped.  This helps you fit a variety of nail polish bottles with relative ease.

It holds smaller bottles like CND without any issue.

Square bottles like Dr.'s REMEDY work well too.

The only bottle in my stash that didn't fit was deborah lippmann.  The large square was just too wide for the pre-cut foam, and while I could somewhat wedge it in there, I was worried about tearing the foam.

Here's an "action shot" of my CND Air Dry properly tiled in the bottom.

The one feature that I wish this had was some kind of weight to help keep the holder in place.  While the rubber grips keep it tilted, more than once, I accidentally knocked the holder from the slanted position (above) to the middle rubber grip, so that the nail polish bottle was standing upright.  It didn't topple over or anything.

Currently, I'm holding nail art sticks in my holder as I'm working on a super secret project, and I have been using it when doing a full manicure and need to get to the last 2/3rds of my bottle.

You can purchase the Lady Bug Nail Polish Holder at Amazon for $7.95.  They are looking to be more widely available in the coming year - so ask your favorite salon about it!  ;]  You can follow Lady Bug Nail Polish Holder on Twitter.
