The Painted Nail: Name The Collection!

Photo from The Painted Nail Facebook Page
We heard about it at Cosmoprof North America, but now they are here!  Katie Cazorla from The Painted Nail has her winter collection made, but not named!  Instead, she's leaving that up to us!

HOW?

First, "Like" The Painted Nail on Facebook.  You will have to comment on the album pictures there (not on Katie's personal profile or public Facebook page).

Second, visit the "The Painted Nail NEW Collection" album.  Click here for a direct link!

Third, write your own name for each color OR "like" the written name that someone has already written.  According to Katie, the top 3 with the most "Likes" next to it will end up in the running for the actual names!  (Of course, they are subject to her final approval!)

To help you out a bit (all images & captions belong to Katie Cazorla/The Painted Nail - URLs are from her Facebook)

POP Nail Contest Entries & Winner!

Thank you to those who participated in my POP Nail Contest!  Please enjoy the following entries and winner!

Amber used 2 coats of NARS Galion, one coat of Cult Nails Hypnotize Me and stamped it with Zoya Trixie. She was going for a design that someone who is "nail art challenged" could pull off, and I think she did excellent!  It's almost like a gold dipped fishnet, which I think is super neat.

Angie is a blogger who really loves metallic polishes.  She used Zoya Penny on her middle and pinky fingers and Julep Zoe on her pointer and ring fingers and then added Zoya Ginessa on the tips.  This was actually her first attempt at nail art and I'm calling it a great one!

Cheryl was inspired by Maria from R3Daily/CultNails and her July 4th mani ideas to create this spin on the American Flag.  She used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear White On, China Glaze Phat Santa and Wet n Wild Crazy Nocturnal.  For her stamping of the "flag stripes", she used Bundle Monster plate 210 and then for her thumb, Cheryl used a bobby pin.  Talk about creative!

Want to know how Gabbz came up with this Hello Kitty manicure?  Check out her blog here for her inspiration, the colors she utilized and even the stamping plate that was used!

Gift Princess created a pretty awesome looking take on a rainbow here, but unfortunately I don't have any information on the polishes used or her inspiration.  It's super pretty though!

Ferfer Lynn is also a blogger who used her daughter's hands to create this awesome Halloween look using Wet n Wild Blue Moon and acrylic paints.  Then on top of it all?  China Glaze Ghoulish Glow.  I just picked up a new bottle myself - I wonder what all she made glow... the ghost?  The eyes?  The RIP?  Heh.

As SOON as I saw Kristi's submission, I KNEW it was inspirited by True Blood (and the Tarte makeup kit on the left!).  Kristi is also a blogger who used Zoya Kristi, Forever 21 Charcoal and white and black Art Deco nail art polishes.  She was definitely up in my top 3, especially for my obsession with TB.

Myra was in the mood for Berry Smoothies the day she made this so she decided on the berry inspired color and then combined a bit of the Littlest Pet Shop... Her nails are really an "End of the Summer" combo.  I really love the added purple stones - I'm such a sucker for purple!

Laina was our runner up.  Her colored cheetah look has a sweet burst of color sprinkled throughout.  I wish I had the patience to do this with all the colors used in the dots.  She has over 14 nail techs in her current salon and has a franchise of ~70 total techs in her area.  I need to make a visit, hah!

And now we have our winner! Blogger Amanda wanted to make a flower manicure but didn't think she had the talent to pull one off (pssh, girl!).  She hadn't seen a dandelion manicure around and so she thought it would be interesting (and easy!) and she said it's been a pretty big hit!  She used a base of China Glaze Sea Spray and the rest is all acrylic paint.  (Random: Her blog is actually ran by her and her mom - too cute!)

And there you have it!  Thank you again so much for participating and letting us see your nail art!

No-Miss Comet

Update: So I'm a dork and didn't double check the name of this polish. My label was cut off - the color is called Comet, not "Omet". Thank you Gwenn for letting me know!

I was first introduced to No-Miss Cosmetics while at Cosmoprof North America back in August.  This family run company from Florida is all natural, big 3 free, fast drying, chip resistant, UV inhibitor and non-yellowing (and a few more things too).  They have over 170 colors, including every glitter combination you can think of... they do not discontinue colors.  In fact, if you have a color combination that you're looking for (Prom, a wedding, for fun), I was told "Call us, we'll make it for you."  (We talked a bit about making a dupe for Essie Starry Starry Night.)

At the end of the convention, I received several colors of my choice (and a few of their all natural eye shadows too!) so today I wanted to show Comet, a lavender and blue small hexagonal glitter in a light creme base.  I thought it would go well over Zoya Shay but that wasn't quite the case.  This is one coat of Comet.

Yeah - not that awesome.  It almost takes on a yellow look over this base and with straight sun.  I was hoping shade would be better.

Okay, yes - much better.  You can see how there is some lavender and then some blue in there.  Beautiful polish, just not so much over a nude.

Indoors with flash - yeah - terrible.  This color just doesn't like a nude under it.  So what's the best next thing?

Black!  This is one coat of nubar Black which has a rubber matte finish so I added a coat of Seche Vite before Comet.  This is 2 coats of Comet followed by a top coat of Seche Vite.

NOW check it indoors.  I'm in love.  I'm such a sucker for blues and violets.  Definitely love.  Removal was super easy - no scrubbing at all which I'm used to with glitters.

No-Miss can be found in several health food stores like Whole Foods or purchased on their website for $7.95.  You can follow No-Miss on Twitter or like them on Facebook as well.

deborah lippmann holiday 2011

Please enjoy the following press release from deborah lippmann!  I have been DROOLING over Do Ya Think I'm Sexy and really hope to see it in my Christmas stocking this year!

deborah lippmann holiday 2011
DEBORAH LIPPMANN’S HOLIDAY SHADES ARE DRIPPING IN EXCESS
and not your little girl’s glitter!

The holidays are a time to feel good; even in New York people are a little cheerier! So it seemed only natural to create a collection of holiday colors that celebrate the spirit of the season. Each color has something joyful, from large flecks of gorgeous glinting glitter or a magnificent metallic finish that shimmers off the nail. Go ahead, play with these shades and let them add to the joy of the season.
SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THING – a full-on flickering gold (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
We have seen so many large sequins in fashion I wanted to make the most FULL-ON gold EVER. All large sequined glitter in gold with nothing but a clear base. It’s holiday in a bottle!
Price: $18.00

DO YA THINK I’M SEXY? - a risqué red sequin (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
I did my one woman show at the famous NYC Feinsteins earlier this year and I wore a ‘couture’red sequin Jessica Rabbit gown. Since I can’t wear that dress daily I decided to create a color we could all wear all holiday long. We even used the shade in the hottest fall runway show Rodarte. Talk about feeling sexy when you are wearing nail color!
Price: $18.00

I LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE - a groovy graphite (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
Disco is back! I have never lost my love for disco. Believe it or not I was the Arizona state disco dancing champion. I was inspired by the huge disco ball that was prominent in every night club back in the day. Clear base filled with large particles of graphite glitter. Edgy and cool.
Price: $18.00

STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN - an iridescent icicle (glitter) - LIMITED EDITION
Lying on the beach and looking up at the stars gave me the idea for this soft but shimmering shade. Made from all large glitter, it is modern and fairy princess all at the same time.
Price: $18.00

GOOD GIRL GONE BAD - a bold cabernet glimmer (shimmer)
This is a rich, chic sophisticated holiday shade. Dark berry with just a hint of gold shimmer— just enough to catch the light.
Price: $16.00

GLAMOROUS LIFE - a Rolex rose gold (metallic)
I’ve been obsessed with a rose gold Rolex watch and since I haven't received one in my Xmas stocking I decided the next best thing would be to wear the color on my nails. It has taken me 3 years to get the luxurious finish in this shade.
Price: $16.00
