Carbon Coco Natural Teeth Whitening

I'm obsessed with my teeth. As a child of the 90s, I went through braces like most of my peers however, I didn't keep them on long enough and so now I have a couple of permanent retainers in my mouth. The other thing I'm obsessed with is whiter teeth. In my mid 20s, I had dental trays made specifically for whitening at my dentist office and I would buy the whitener from them every few months in an effort to whiten. I've also used many over the counter products like strips and toothpastes in the past. One thing I hadn't tried yet but have been interested in was activated charcoal so when Carbon Coco reached out, I was stoked.

I received the Ultimate Carbon Kit ($89.95) back in April and immediately started using it. However, I had some discomfort and wasn't sure if it was because of the product or because of new medication I was taking. I decided to discontinue the product until I was done with the meds and start again.

In mid-May I started again. The discomfort was not there so I am chalking it up to my medication making my teeth sensitive and not the products itself. This kit is not tested on animals, dentist approved and does contain medical grade activated charcoal. As you can see above, it comes with the Activated Charcoal Tooth Polish, the Activated Charcoal Toothpaste and a toothbrush with bamboo bristles. This was my first time using bamboo bristles and I had no issues making the change from my normal brush.

You start by wetting your toothbrush and dipping it into the tooth polish. This stuff can get everywhere so I recommend putting it on the counter. The card that I received said to brush for 3 minutes and then spit/rinse. Three minutes is much longer than I'm used to, so I ended up playing a song on my iPhone to pass the time. When you do spit, the black liquid does get everywhere but it's easily rinsed down the sink without staining.

Next you use the Activated Carbon Toothpaste which fights cavities, plaque, gingivitis and bad breath. It claims to reduce bacteria build-up by up to 90% for 12 hours. Again, my card said to brush for 3 minutes. This stuff foams up but has a very pleasant smell and taste (don't swallow it!) and rinses clean. What I really like is that I can almost feel a "squeaky clean" feeling on my teeth after the full 3 minutes. For best results, brush twice a day.

I don't have very stained teeth - I don't drink coffee but I do drink black tea and plus I've been really vigilant about my teeth but I still saw a difference in my teeth. After checking their website, now it states to only use the products for 2 minutes which is more like I'm used to but the 3 minutes wasn't a deal breaker. One container does last for months which helps when looking at pricing and at press time, the kit is on sale for only $44.95. There are other products available too in their shop including oil pulling and tongue scrapers. I would absolutely buy this again when I do run out - I didn't have any sensitivity after using and my teeth look great! Now I don't have the lovely before and afters because I'm still trying to figure out how to take a photo of my teeth without looking like a total goofball and also because I didn't have staining/yellow teeth to begin with.
