China Glaze Wait Teal You See!
3.04.2013
This morning I told you about the new China Glaze Ombré sets - now I have the above to show you!
I was surprised to see that these were full sized bottles - I knew that from the press release but the packaging just made the bottles seem so small in my hand.
The back of the package shows you a step by step of how to do it.
The ten pull apart 6 sided sponges. Each one is slightly larger than a quarter.
First I painted my nail with White on White and then I decided to put my colors on a sandwich bag for easy clean up.
RAWR MESSY SPONGE TIME. Now I think I needed more of the Turned Up Turquoise on my sponge because it just doesn't work as well for my eyes. Also you see how bumpy my sponge is?
Top coat that stuff. Yep - it helps smooth out the spongy look... well, kinda.
I used my default e.l.f. Professional Concealer brush for cleanup. They only cost $1 and are so awesome at cleaning up my cuticles.
The China Glaze Ombré sets are available for a limited time at Sally's Beauty Supply for $13.

So fun! Oh many now these are on my lemming list ~
ReplyDeleteThey are limited release so once they are gone, that's it!
DeleteSo in your opinion, does it really warrant buying a full set of polishes when you can basically get the same effect using two colors you already own and a makeup sponge?
ReplyDeleteI think the price is definitely worth it for four bottles - the sponges are nothing but a bonus because yeah, you can use a makeup sponge (I did one here on the blog using an eyeshadow brush!).
DeleteHmmm...I don't like the sponges..
ReplyDeleteThe good thing about the shape is you can reuse them several times - when I used an eyeshadow brush I could only use it once and had to throw it out.
Deletewow only $13 for 4 full size bottles of CG. Thats a good price. love these colors. id this the only color the Ombre set comes in?
ReplyDeleteNope! It comes in 3 different colors... pinks and purples! http://www.polishgalore.com/2013/03/china-glaze-ombre-nail-kits.html
DeleteI just died from the sheer awesomeness of 3 teals in one set. I need this. I absolutely do!!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to get it now because it is a limited edition run!
DeleteWhile I wouldn't buy this just for the ombre thing, the price is great for four full sized bottles of China Glaze. I'll grab one if it contains shades I don't already own. :D
ReplyDeleteYep! I owned all the purple shades already so I passed on it.
DeleteI would love to try this but I feel like I would mess it up lol was it that difficult to do?
ReplyDeleteNope! And I'm a noob completely. This is only the second gradient I've ever done. But you can also take the polish and paint each finger a different color (for a different kind of ombre!)
DeletePrice is good - the lumps not...and that's just cause they blew it on putting in decent sponges? What a mess up on their part. I do like the shades - but prob don't need em since I have everything in those ranges to do my own. Thx for the review
ReplyDeleteIt's more like they were holes instead of lumps lol! The good thing about the sponges is that you can reuse them several times because of the shape. Thanks for reading!
DeleteLove the colors, but looks like the sponges aren't that great. Nice idea though.
ReplyDeleteIt really takes the guess work out of picking your own colors - which tends to be the hard part for me!
DeleteI usually wet my sponge before doing a gradient; I wonder if that would have helped at all with the texture? This is a cool set tho!
ReplyDeleteI just heard that from the Nailasaurus! I'll have to try it out.
