In addition, Lopez will receive the 2013 PBA Beautiful Humanitarian Award during the Ceremony for his work with a variety of charitable initiatives. Lopez works to raise awareness and funds for many causes that support the positive and healthy development of children and young adults. A champion of many causes, Lopez's work as an Alumni Ambassador of Fitness with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), and as part of the organization's BE GREAT campaign, has continually helped bring to light the major issues affecting today's young people, including the importance of graduating from high school and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In addition to his work with BGCA, Lopez is a passionate supporter of other organizations, including Children's Hospital Los Angeles, Community Youth Athletic Center of Chula Vista, Jameson's Army, and Padres Contra el Cancer.

He is also the host of the soon to be nationwide Clear Channel radio show "On with Mario Lopez."  Not only does Lopez have a proclivity for the entertainment industry, he is also an avid sports fan. He has taken his love for sports, specifically boxing, to the next level as a recurring commentator on HBO Boxing, and recently produced a documentary based on the sport.

Lopez is a New York Times bestselling author for his healthy eating guide Extra Lean. In May 2011, he released the follow up to Extra Lean entitled Extra Lean Family. This new book features recipes and tips that are beneficial to the entire family. Additionally, Lopez penned Mario Lopez's Knockout Fitness, a bestselling fitness book that offers readers a look into his impressive workout regime, and Mud Tacos, a vibrant children's book he co-authored with his sister Marissa. The Nail Collection - Premier Box

I first wrote about The Nail Collection in my Nail Polish Monthly Subscription posting. For $30, they will send you a mix of 4 polishes by OPI, China Glaze, essie, and ORLY. (shipping is included for USA only).  If you live in the UK, Canada or Australia, you pay an additional shipping charge.

I received a press box from their launch and was pleased to see that all 4 bottles were indeed, current collections.  I received essie "in the cab-ana" and "under where?" from their resort collection, OPI "Can't Find my Czech Book" from the Euro Centrale collection, and China Glaze "Mimosa's Before Mani's" from the Avant Garden collection.  All bottles were full sized, individually wrapped in bubble wrap and sealed tightly.  The box had shredded crinkle paper for padding and included a note card with a handwritten note from Ana, the owner.

If I were to buy these products from my local Walgreens, Sally Beauty and Ulta, it would cost $8 for each essie, $6 for China Glaze and $8.50 for OPI for a grand total of $30.50 and that doesn't include shipping.

If you don't have access to an online e-tailer like Head2Toe Beauty or TransDesign or the ability to buy from a local beauty supply store, this seems to be the way to go.  It is my understanding from other bloggers that The Nail Collection has not partnered with any brands at this point, and is instead buying polishes at wholesale prices.

Box subscriptions have been all the rage in the past 2 years. Beauty, nail polish, pet items, organic - it's a little bit of Heaven for those who want to try but don't want to commit to full sized products.

New to Cosmoprof North America (CPNA), this sampling concept will be unveiled at the show this July in Las Vegas. CPNA is the first trade show to bring customized sampling to show attendees. All proceeds collected will benefit CITY OF HOPE, a leading research, treatment, and education center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases.

All CPNA attendees are invited to visit the one-stop beauty shop, BEAUTIQUE, for deluxe-sized samples, including the latest in up-and-coming cosmetics, skin care, nails, hair...and some classic beauty favorites. Attendees will be able to hand-pick seven deluxe samples from 20 featured exhibiting brands for a nominal fee of $10.  

The beauty sampling shop will be located on the main show floor and will be open throughout the entire show. Exhibitors participating in this program will benefit from enhanced visibility on the show floor as well as the opportunity to get their products in the hands of many buyers who they may not necessarily get the opportunity to meet with otherwise. 

The list of participating brands will be announced in May. HCT Packaging, the official sponsor of BEAUTIQUE, will produce the exclusively customized box to hold all the beauty products.

I'm definitely looking forward to wearing more gels during those weeks that I'm just super busy and with summer coming up soon, I just feel like I'm going to have more than a few of those weeks. iPhone apps are awesome. I've been spending a lot of quality time with Skee-Ball 2 lately, but for my nail polish needs, China Glaze came out with their own app last month.  Not only do they have the normal "try on the color" and "recent collections" but they have this "Match a Color" picker where you can take a photo with your iPhone camera or pick from your camera roll and then press on the photo where you want to pick from and the app will give you a China Glaze color in that range.  And the best part? So KBShimmer is one of those "indie" lines that I haven't had a chance to wear yet.
