Cult Nails Casual Elegance

Press Sample

The fast selling Cult Nails Casual Elegance collection included this lovely periwinkle blue creme by the same name. I decided to randomly pull it out of my box after thinking I had put it somewhere else. Bottom line, I have too much nail polish right now.

I used a base coat of Cult Nails Get It On, 2 coats of polish and topped it with Cult Nails Wicked Fast. As much as I love Cult Nails, the formula on this polish was a bit watery. I was able to make it work with a little extra clean up efforts.

As you can see in the sun, this is definitely an opaque creme. No hidden shimmer or glitters anywhere - just lots of creme love. I'm definitely a fan of the color as well.

In the shade, you can see a bit of the flooding issues I had. Nothing a little acetone can't handle.

Finally inside with indirect light - not much else to say. This is another unique shade that I'm happy to own. I actually tried to pay for the collection but was gifted it by Cult Nails. There are 2 other gorgeous shades involved so stay tuned! This polish is currently discontinued but maybe she will bring it back one day!

China Glaze Off Shore

It's summer time! Little PG started camp today and is going to be starting swimming lessons and I'm excited to wear bright polishes. Yes, they are related in my world. When I first saw the China Glaze Off Shore collection leaked, I thought they were all neons but I was happy to find out that they were actually cremes!

Digital Nails Holy shrimp!

Nothing To Disclose

Boosting the signal.

Raphaelle, the creative genius behind Digital Nails, has become one of my favorite polish creators not just for her amazing polishes but also her amazing personality.  On June 21st, she is participating in The Longest Day, an event to honor the strength, passion and endurance of those facing Alzheimer's disease. From sunrise to sunset, she will be singing karaoke to raise awareness and funds for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

On her personal Facebook page, she told her friends that she would gladly make a custom nail polish, not to be sold in her store, for anyone that donated $35 to her team fundraiser. I immediately signed up of course.

I gave her the following notes - I love purple, coral and silver polishes - don't love gold/yellow, blues or greens. My favorite finish is either holographic or glitter and least favorite is pearl. I love shape glitter but please no butterfly glitter and the more opaque the polish, the better.

A few days later, this beauty came in the mail. Holy shrimp! is an opaque one coater coral holographic polish and I LOVE it.  I used a base of Cult Nails Get It On, 1 coat of polish and topped it with Digital Nails Ain't Nobody Got Time For That.

To make sure I had opaqueness in one coat, we had to sacrifice a bit of the holo but I'm still very happy with it. In the sun, the holo peeked out to play.

I really love this in the shade - coral, the shimmer look from the holographic particles. Fantastic.

Finally indoors with indirect light - I couldn't stay still enough to get a sharp photo so it looks a bit blurry but it's still amazing.

Raphaelle is extending her custom polish offer to anyone that would like to donate. Her page is listed here and to get your custom polish, leave your name in the donation spot (no anonymous) and send a screen cap of your donation to raphyax at gmail dot com Then she will contact you about your custom! You won't be disappointed. All donations are tax deductible and the Alzheimer's Association is a BBB Accredited Charity. Go now - this offer expires in 20 days!

Morgan Taylor New Kicks on the Block

Press Sample

In case you missed it, the 2014 Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid - which has been popping up everywhere in nail collections. Morgan Taylor New Kicks on the Block from the Casual Cool Collection is right on the money. While it wants to photograph pink, I have color corrected to the true purple creme that you see on your nails.

I used a base coat of Duri Rejuvacote, 2 coats of polish, and my top coat was H K Girl by Glisten & Glow. I may have been able to get away with just one coat of polish but I did two to be consistent. Very highly pigmented and applied very easily.

In the sun, this polish does its job. Opaque, good formula, lovely.

Even in the shade, this polish pops.

Finally indoors with indirect light. I finally got a new door (to replace the one that was broken last summer) and it's really motivated me to get back into working with my polishes. That and I have so many pretties to show you.

Morgan Taylor [Website | Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | Pinterest | YouTube] is available at CosmoProf for $8.50 a bottle. Online, non-professionals can purchase Morgan Taylor at Ulta Beauty
