Public Apology

This evening over Twitter, I posted a picture of a woman along with a comment about her size that was inappropriate and ill placed.  As someone who has been medically told "lose 70 pounds", I don't like seeing people who are embracing being overweight, but frankly, this is not my soapbox to talk about weight issues.  What I did was wrong, mean and rude.


I am never above apologizing when I'm wrong, and doing what is necessary to try to make things right.  Not only did I push some people further away, I lost some blogging contacts in the process.


To those who saw and were affected by it, I am sorry and do apologize.  I do not condone bullying and it was not my intent to appear to be bullying another.  Thank you.

Eyeshadow Spam

I finally got about to moving my makeup into plastic boxes since I had out grown my Kaboodles (sad!).


In the process, I decided to swatch all my blue eyeshadows/liners/pigments/glitters for my "blue birthday bash" party I went to, and then today I swatched all my green eyeshadows/liners/pigments/glitters for St. Patrick's Day.  Just some little picture spam.

OPI Don't Mess With OPI

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  I was rummaging around my box of untries and figured I'd put on the first green I saw (I have at least 3 of them in my box) and BOOM from the Texas Collection, OPI's Don't Mess With OPI is a solid green creme - almost the color of a solid primary green.


I used a base coat of OPI Natural Nail, 2 coats of Don't Mess With OPI and a top coat of OPI Top Coat.  The consistency was super nice, especially with the pro-wide brush they have.  I never realize how much I like it until I'm using it.

I'm still trying to figure out what is going on with my camera - it's like I have Lens Flare on demand or something.  It's really annoying.  I'd love to drop a grand on a nice DSLR but uh... yeah.  House mortgage comes first.  (Kinda).  Beautiful in the sun, a bit "boring" for me since it's a creme, but you know I didn't keep it like this... I ended up putting a shatter on it later.

In the shade, you can still tell this is a nice color - green.  Oh green.  Gives me a bit of lobster hands but not too bad.  I do hate nubbins though.

Milani How-to Steps:

1.        Apply Smoothé Base Coat Specialty Nail Lacquer MST-01 to entire nail. Let it fully dry

2.        Apply French Manicure Nail Lacquer MFM-302 Angel Pink as a color base coat. Allow it to fully dry

3.        Use Nail Lacquer MNL-829 Dress Maker across the very tip of the nail, creating a French tip. Allow to fully dry

4.        Add 4 small “V’s” the arrangement of a four leaf clover using Nail Art Lacquer MNA - 709 Green Sketch

5.        Apply a tiny dot in the center with Nail Art Lacquer MNA – 701 Art of Gold. Allow to fully dry

6.        Apply Glossé Top Coat Specialty Nail Lacquer MST-02 over entire design

LA Splash Nail Glitter

A couple of months ago, I was in San Antonio and spied an entire display of LA Splash "Nail Art Glitter" at $3.50 a cube (note, it's selling for $6.99 on their website!).  There are many different ways to get this on the nail - their website says to either dip the tip of your nail into the glitter for a french tip, or brush on the glitter to your whole nail for a full nail.  Either way, it's a bit messy.


I purchased Onyx, a dark silver microglitter, sea-foam green, mid-blue and iridescent purple and Viola, a medium purple microglitter, light lilac and lavender with a bit of blue.


I used a base coat of CND Blackjack and first dipped my nail in Viola, then brushed Onyx on part of the nail.  I topped it with 2 coats of Seche Vite for the smoothness factor.  As you can tell, it's quite blingy.

Definitely something fun to play with, but not a practical every day thing for me - it took too much time to play with the glitter and loose glitter just goes EVERYWHERE.  It wasn't fun to remove either, even using the soaking method (I don't like to use foil - waste of foil).

I have been absolutely miserable the past few days, but in case I don't make it later tonight back to the computer, here is my manicure for St. Patrick's Day.


I used a base coat of OPI Natural Nail, 2 coats of OPI Don't Mess with OPI, and a top coat of OPI Top Coat.  Then I used China Glaze Lightning Bolt crackle polish, with a final coat of Seche Vite.

Blogs of Note

Happy Sunday!  As I'm recovering from an awesome birthday party, here's a few blogs for you to check out.


First is Nail Juice.  I started reading this blog before I was blogging, and have always loved reading it.  She tends to keep her nails short but they always look so good!


Next is Nail Junkie.  Sadly, she hasn't updated in awhile, but I always loved her pictures so I haven't brought myself to unsubscribe just yet.  She normally keeps her nails short as well and features some nail art.


Last is Hocake Nails.  She has medium nails and features some nail art.  Now she just needs to update more!  :)

China Glaze First Mate

Also from the Anchor's Away China Glaze spring collection is First Mate, a royal navy blue creme.  Man, you want to talk about blue - THIS is blue.  The formula was super nice on this one and thankfully, no smurf fingers during removal.


I used a base coat of Seche Natural, 2 coats of First Mate and a top of Seche Vite.

BAM, hello.

I love the blue of the sky in this picture with the blue of the polish.  Lovely.

And finally, a shade picture - you can really see how lovely it is... and how reflective!  This would be a great base for some Konad or nail art for sure.

China Glaze Ahoy!

This color is not a fun one to photograph, but super fun to wear!  From the Anchor's Away collection, China Glaze Ahoy! is a raspberry red with a glass fleck pink/gold particles in it.  Lovely!  I'm actually wearing it as a pedicure right now.


I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Ahoy! and a top of Seche Vite.  Despite the above picture, it is definitely not a creme or jelly or neon.

You really can't see the glass fleck in the sun either and in case you're wondering, the index finger has a coat of China Glaze Crackle in Crushed Candy.  Reviews on that later.

Finally in the shade you can see this color's true colors - literally.  Now these pictures were taken before I had to chop off my nails, but in an effort to get better pictures of this color, I put it on again yesterday.

Overall, I love the glass fleck in this polish - I love glass fleck in general... It's my second favorite finish next to holographic. ^_^
