Here's a change of pace - Illamasqua Vice from Theatre of the Nameless. The coolest part of this collection for me is the rubber/plastic finish, much like ORLY Purple Pleather. I used a base of Duri Rejuvocate and 2 coats of polish.
I've mentioned this before, but the square cap comes off for a smaller round top. It's not necessary for painting but some people prefer it over a square top.
Here it is in the sun - nice and rubbery and red. It's not matte, it's not shiny... love the different finish here!
In the shade, the color is really nice and strong. The red/purple berry is a great compliment for my skin.
Indoors with the flash is a bit hard on the eyes but not terrible.
Then, because I can't leave things alone, I added a top coat of CND Air Dry.
I don't know if it's a reaction of CND with Illamasqua or just the rubbery finish but check out how weird this turned out! I left my pinkie alone but the other nails just seem streaky now.
It's a bit better in the shade but still - no bueno. I will have to try a different top coat next time to see what the difference is.
For those in the States, you can purchase Illamasqua from Sephora [official website] for $14 a bottle.

WOW! That's a beautiful and mature polish! I love it! That is quite odd how it turned out with the top coat, interested to see if a different top coat will do the same.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try it... I have at least 6 other top coats available on my desk.
Deletewow,great!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to recommend my iPod giveaway, it is open internationally! Thank you :)

Thanks!
DeleteBy happy accident I discovered that if you use Smith's Rosebud Salve while wearing Essie matte topcoat, you can wind up this rubber-look finish.... I wasn't sure how I felt about the idea of rubber polish when the collection came out, but after accidentally making one now I rather like it. :)
ReplyDeleteHah you're kidding!? I'm addicted to Smith's Rosebud Salve in the tins. When I found it in a squeeze tube while in Vegas, I was all kinds of excited.
DeleteI don't know how it works on other matte finishes, or if the layers need to be thick or thin, but I believe I was wearing two layers of the Essie matte at the time. When I noticed that I'd made the finish all weird I just went with it and started using the salve as cuticle cream. Rubber finish and moisturised cuticles? Win! And I just noticed that Sephora.com carries Rosebud in the squeeze tube as well. That's a lot better for my handbag! I'm always worrying about it melting and leaking from the tin. I think I'll try it on my Manglaze polishes next.
DeleteOmg it's finally in Sephora in a squeeze tube?! I literally have 3 tins full right now but my squeeze tube stays in my purse and it's running super low. I've melted SO many of them and then I have to REMELT it so I can make it sit proper in the tin. Sigh.
DeleteI LOVE ManGlaze! I need to get some more especially their white!
This is such a pretty color. I haven't seen this type of finish before. What was that with the top coat though? Weird reaction. I wonder what the best top coat is to use for it, hmmm...
ReplyDeleteTalk about weird, right? I'll have to check my other top coats.
DeleteThese look great, I have my first two Illamasqua's on the way to me, can't wait.
ReplyDeleteOoh which ones?
