China Glaze Mommy Kissing Santa

Mmmm reds.  I do love reds.  I didn't think I loved reds until I started wearing reds.  There's something about red.  Mommy Kissing Santa is one of a few reds from the new 'Tis the Season, also called "Naughty or Nice" China Glaze 2010 Winter Collection.  It reminds me of a big shiny red Christmas ornament.  I have to stop taking my pictures so late in the day - check out that 5 o'clock shadow.

I used a base coat of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Mommy Kissing Santa, and a top of Seche Vite.  It's a very nice dark red shimmer.  Very nice formula - not runny or thick.

In the sun you can see that it almost looks two toned but that's just my sun fading away.  It was such a pleasant color to apply - very smooth formula.

In the shade it has such a smooth finish as well - like velvet or something.  I really think this is a great color to wear for your Holiday Party or just even in the spring.  Very happy with this one.  I know it's not terrible original, but I can't think off hand of its dupe right now.

China Glaze Sugar Plums

Oh geez, I absolutely love this color.  China Glaze Sugar Plums from the 'Tis the Season to be naughty and nice collection (okay seriously? Longest name ever....) is listed simply as a plum shimmer but this is nothing but simple.  Along the same lines of Grape Crush and Crystal Ball, this is a color with tons of tiny multiglitter, but isn't a holo.  Actually, I'd LOVE for someone to do a Sugar Plums/Crystal Ball comparison!  Anyway back to this.

I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Sugar Plums and a top coat of Seche Vite.  I absolutely love this color and really didn't want to take it off.  The formula was excellent and it was so super shiny.

Rawr - look at that dark plum goodness.  In the sun, you don't see the glitter as much but it's just a nice vampy color.

Sadly the glitter is pretty gone in the shade as well but hold up, I got a sunny blurry shot.

BAM!  Multicolored goodness.  Mmmm.  Love it!  This is a must have color for me - have you picked up yours yet?

Barielle Unraveled Rust

Howdy!  Sorry for my break - I have a huge bunch of polish to post including the rest of this Barielle fall collection "Style in Argyle."  Worst part is I have the pictures, I just need to edit and write the posts.  Rawr!

This interesting color here is Unraveled Rust.  Despite this weird yellow bottle color, this is actually a burnt rust creme, and you'll be able to tell better in the other pictures.  I'm not sure why it shows up so yellow here - I even double checked my bottles to make sure I didn't mess up the pictures!  I used a base of Seche Natural, 2 coats of Unraveled Rust and a top of Seche Vite.  I did have a wonky brush on this bottle (boo) and I noticed that the formula was a little on the thick side.  I needed quite a bit of cleanup afterwards.

Two different sun pictures here - you can see some of that weird yellow in the bottle, then a muddied brown rust color in the second picture and more of a darker red brown in the first.  This is definitely a unique color.

In the shade, it's a very dark rust brown color - like I said, very unique.  I can't think of another color I have like this in my collection but I'm going to keep looking.  I was very impressed with the uniqueness of this color.  UNIQUE.  ^_^

Barielle retails for $8/bottle.

Blogs of Note

Happy Sunday!  Here are 3 more blogs for you to check out!
First up is Magic Maid.  She has medium length nails and includes a list of contests and giveaways of her fellow bloggers on her site.  She includes a lot of polishes that I haven't been able to find, which is great because it helps in blind purchasing online.

Next is Temptalia.  Blog owner Christine mainly review makeup but includes nail polish as well.  The majority of her blog is M.A.C. related but she is the absolute go to blog for all new releases, as she is privileged to getting the information or products first.  She has been blogging for at least 4 years that I know of, and has several postings a day, so I recommend using your RSS feed for sure on this one.  She has medium length nails and while I don't absolutely love her nail polish technique of 3 strokes (doesn't always get into the sides), she does always have completely accurate colored and clear pictures.

Last today is Nail of the Day.  My personal friend Cassie is the owner and she is just starting out.  However, she has a big love of polish especially after making several purchases that I had egged her on getting.

Enjoy!

OPI Glam Slam collection

Please enjoy this release from OPI about their new Glam Slam collection.

OPI, the world’s leading professional nail care company, partners with tennis superstar, Serena Williams, to launch the Glam Slam collection. Timed in conjunction with the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open, the Glam Slam collection will introduce two new Nail Lacquers at the start of each tournament.
Beginning with the Australian Open, the first shades to be released under the collaboration will include Simply Smashing, a glowing green Nail Lacquer, paired with a revolutionary new product, Black Shatter top coat. Once applied to the dried Nail Lacquer, the top coat begins to disappear, leaving behind a leopard print-style pattern on each nail.
Serena Williams is an amazingly talented tennis champion and true fashion icon who is constantly raising the bar on and off the court,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “We are very excited to work with Serena to launch the Glam Slam collection of eight bold, innovative products that meet the highest level of standards set by OPI and Serena.”
Serena Williams adds, “Everyone knows that I’ve always loved fashion and design, but they might not know that I’m manic about my nails.  That’s why I’m super excited to partner with OPI to create my Glam Slam Collection.  And on top of that, I am well on my way to receiving my nail technician license.  Working with OPI is really a dream come true.”
Serena Williams is ranked World Number One in singles by the Women’s Tennis Association and has received this distinction on five separate occasions, along with being listed as sixth on the all-time greatest champions list.  Additionally, she has won two Olympic gold medals in women’s doubles and has earned 27 Grand Slam titles to date. Serena is the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles titles simultaneously and only the fifth woman in history to do so.
The Glam Slam collection will be introduced in pairs of two complementary hues that coincide with each of the four major tournaments, beginning with the Australian Open in January 2011, and will include launches in May 2011 for the French Open, June 2011 for Wimbledon and August 2011 for the US Open. As with all OPI Nail Lacquers, the Glam Slam collection contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and each includes OPI’s exclusive ProWide Brush for the ultimate in application.

CSN #3 Giveaway

I'm back with another CSN Giveaway!  So as I've shown before in some of my pictures, I currently have all my nail polish on my dining room table.  I have a really nice Drop Leaf Table that my parents actually got from my Dad's sister when they moved into a smaller house.  They gave it to me this summer when I bought their house and I immediately put all my nail polish racks on it (oops).  I have a super long dining room and kitchen but it's rather narrow, so a drop leaf table is perfect because I can have all the leaves in for extra guests, or in my current case, extra racks.

So, let's have a giveaway!  The winner will receive a $45 USD gift certificate to be used on any product in any of CSN's 200+ stores.  Please note that this gift certificate does not cover shipping, but you may choose a product that has free shipping on it.  To make this nice and easy on me, just be a follower through Google Friend Connect (read here on how to join GFC!) and fill out the form!  This is only available to my USA and Canadian friends but no worries, I have something up my sleeve because I just saw that I hit 600 followers!!!

Giveaway ends 26 October 2010 at midnight:01 GMT (or 25 October 7:01 p.m. CST)
