China Glaze Lubu Heels which is apart of the Lubu Manicure along with Ruby Heels, is an interesting color. Luxury French shoe and bag designer Christian Louboutin was the inspiration for the line, but since I have nubbins, I couldn't put Ruby Heels under my nails like you're supposed to. Lubu Heels is a black jelly with red glitter and it took me 3 coats to get complete coverage and a smooth application. I can't wait to get the light box in, because I could have some better pictures to share.
Here are a couple of my older pictures when I first tried out this color.
China Glaze [official website] can be found online through several etailers, including my favorite Head2Toe Beauty [official website] or Sally's Beauty Supply [official website].
Also! Thank you to all those who are following me. When I get to 50 followers, I'm going to hold a giveaway!

love the idea of the lubu manicure. my nails are semi-nubbins so you wouldnt be able to see the red underneath anyways. im not really a fan of dark colors but when there is a catchy ploy im game. looks good!!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of doing a Louboutin manicure, but it would be very messy getting the red on the other side of the nail. That polish is very pretty though!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your giveaway! I want to do on, but told myself not to do it till I'm at 100.
This is a nice color!
ReplyDeleteI have heard so much about his polish, when you say black jelly with red glitter, does it compare to OPI's Midnight in Moscow at all?
ReplyDeletecathyrn - Yeah my nails are way too short to try the actual lubu manicure, but I'd like to try it one day! I also am a bit scared of dark colors - so I wear them on short nails, hah!
ReplyDeleteKelly - that's what I think! The only way I can see doing it is if I used a nail brush instead of the actual polish brush. I'm kind of thinking of having a giveaway every 50 followers - heck knows I have a lot of polish!
gildedangel - Thanks! It looks SUPER dark even in sunlight, but it's still pretty up close!
Charis - Honestly, I have no idea. I only own one OPI, and it's the ever popular "I'm not really a waitress". I did look at the swatches from All Lacquered Up http://www.alllacqueredup.com/2007/06/opi-russian-collection-swatches.html specifically http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_8D5qVf5VMxs/RnfeXfGMdcI/AAAAAAAAAz8/MHPa7nas62Q/s1600-h/swatchrussian3.jpg and I must say, it looks VERY similar, especially since we both have nubbins. I'd love to try them side by side!
Oooh, this is sexy. I still haven't gotten any black with red sparkles yet. You are so close to 50 followers, yay!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love Lubu Heels!
ReplyDeleteDanica - it's definitely a unique color... not sure how many times I could get away with it - black is scary to me!
ReplyDeleteGina - thank you!
I LOVE this color - my daughter happened to pick it out for me about 2 weeks at the nail salon. I'm thinking of purchasing it myself.
